..a viable economic unit Doesn't matter what the borders are - it will not be a viable economic unit. The only asset they had for the last few decades was jobs in Israel and the Gulf states. Backing Saddam in the first Gulf war cost them jobs in the Gulf and the latest intifada cost them their jobs in Israel. However, Israel is lifting the closure of the West Bank and Gaza as a gesture toward the upcoming peace talks. At least that's what the news reports say. Don't know how that fits in with the plan that you know is unfolding.
