Gottfried, the probability of a loss for what is non zero?

It really makes a difference that we know exactly what we are talking about especially since so many of us invest at least some of our money not in the overall market but technology stocks.

What historical data do we have that matters for semiconductor stocks?

We have data that can be confirmed. For instance look at this data from Thompson's Financial Network for AMAT:

insider.thomsonfn.com

Plug in any symbol. Summer months are a lot more likely to be negative than any other months of the year for semiconductor related stocks.

And yes September is likely to be the worst.

Could this Summer be different for semi related stocks?

Sure it could but at least there is historical evidence here that can be followed up on that it might not be that easy to expect further gains without a strong business led recovery. At least not during the Summer months.
