This kind of thing has been done many, many times in the past. A temporary, tactical, trivial gesture. One step forward (under American pressure), two steps back (when the pressure eases off). Meanwhile, the settlements keep expanding. That's the litmus test of Sharon's seriousness about Land For Peace. Sharon's track record shows he is as serious about dismantling settlements, as Arafat is about ending suicide bombers.
