Fair enough. Very clear articulation of momentum "investing" philosophy.

And in which case, the whole "expense/not expense" debate is entirely meaningless. Except insofar as it will disrupt existant patterns, as would any significant change. I buy that as well.

Me, I'm not good at figuring out market momentum in the short term. I try to look at the business from a whole-cloth perspective and determine whether management is using shareholder capital productively. If so, I reason that there will be a reasonable return on capital and then I try to invest accordingly.

In which case, how management uses my capital (e.g. to pay itself) ends up being germane to the end result.
