Finger/Matrix Shows NeXt-Generation Law Enforcement Booking Station
GREENSBORO, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 22, 1996--A rugged ten-print electronic fingerprinting station for the international law enforcement community, providing state-of-the-art image recording quality and exceptional ease of use, was first demonstrated here Monday by Finger/Matrix Inc. (NASDAQ/EBB:FINX) at the International Association for Identification (IAI) conference and exhibit.
This "Chek/Ten Booking Station" is a stand-alone, integrated kiosk to be used for prisoner processing in police stations and jails, applicant fingerprinting for security approvals, fingerprinting of military personnel and in other cases where electronic capture of fingerprints is needed.
The system captures, digitizes and records FBI-standard fingerprint data, and also generates hard-copy ten-print cards.
Featuring exceptional precision provided by its patented liquid platen scanner's 1,000 dots-per-inch resolution, the Chek/Ten meets or exceeds not only present FBI provisional standards for fingerprint resolution, but also the rigorous proposed FBI standards as well, according to Thomas T. Harding, president and chief executive officer.
"Both this advanced image capture capability and its touchscreen-based operation are distinct steps ahead of the current generation of competitive booking systems," Harding said. He added that FBI certification tests of the system will begin shortly.
The Chek/Ten is the second major electronic fingerprinting system to be offered by the "new" Finger/Matrix since it came out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy with a new management and board of directors last year. Its "Chek/One" access control system, for controlling access to computer networks or sensitive physical areas and in other identity verification applications, was introduced July 11.
Finger/Matrix invented electronic fingerprinting technology and holds nearly a dozen patents in the field.
