re:The UN was not sure if Saddam had WMD or not.

The UN knew they had these weapons as Iraq declared them - and several countries had information since they sold them weapons.

That was back in 1998.......no one knew what the current situation was in 2003.

The problem was one of accounting for the disposition, sold, buried, used, destroyed?

Yes, and that's why the UN inspectors were sent in there last fall.

I'm sure Saddam had none, he just wanted to get invaded on principle! ;-)

Actually, as much of an asshole as he is, Saddam in his own dysfunctional way was cooperating.

Some in the UN were just tired of the lies and delays in accounting for them as they feared the weapons would be used against them.

Some? You mean one.......the good ole US of A. Oh yeah, I forgot, the coalition of the willing.....what was the that......Monaco and Haiti? <g>

Appears Bush is mending fences in Europe, stocks are up again and a real chance for middle east peace is being pursued.

Yes, it looks that way but then its looked that way before. Sharon is doing a 180 degrees.......I never trust radical moves like that from someone like Sharon.
