If realizing a big gain is the worst thing that happens this year, you'll have a pretty good year. A little frustration is easier to accept when you have profits tucked away. Many of the people I work with are still down 50% over the last three years, despite having made contributions to their 401 K over that whole period. It might be worth remembering that last year's contest winners on this thread managed to lose less than the rest of us. Since they started the year with a higher base, they have presumably benefited from this rally more than average.
