Today many people view being educated and speaking several languages as sign of inferiority.

yes, America is the only country in the world where even the so-called intellectuals are monolingual and proud of it. it is appropriate because America is very self-centered and doesn't care about the rest of the world, except when we need to secure some oil supplies.
