Homeland Security and Interagency Collaboration Projects Among Factors Fueling Demand for Enterprise Integration Solutions in $50 Billion Government IT Market
WESTBORO, Mass., June 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Capitalizing on successful partnerships and increasing demand for its enterprise integration solutions generated by information sharing and data integration initiatives in the federal sector, such as those connected with the Department of Homeland Security, Ascential Software Corporation (Nasdaq: ASCL - News), the enterprise data integration leader, today formally launched a Federal Division to expand relationships with federal agencies and the contractors and systems integrators that serve them. The Ascential Software Corporation Federal Division is based in Reston, Va., and is headed by William Q. Smith, an experienced executive in the government market. Smith has built a dedicated team of business development, alliance management and service professionals with deep public sector experience. Ascential Software is building a growing customer base of federal agencies and branches and has expanding partnerships with contractors serving the federal sector. The Ascential(TM) Enterprise Integration Suite provides government organizations best-in-class products for data profiling, quality and transformation built on a core platform of services that delivers unlimited scalability, end-to-end meta data management, and complete connectivity.
"Federal agencies have immediate requirements for comprehensive data integration in heterogeneous environments - smoothly and rapidly integrating massive quantities of data among disparate and legacy systems," said Derick Masengale, principal in the EDS Federal Customer Relationship Management and Business Intelligence Practice. "The Ascential Enterprise Integration Suite provides many of the essential capabilities required to address the myriad of data integration and management issues facing many agencies today as they move forward with their information sharing initiatives."
According to The National Strategy for Homeland Security, published by the Department of Homeland Security: "Despite spending some $50 billion on information technology per year ... organizations have evolved into islands of technology - distinct networks that obstruct efficient collaboration." Ascential's suite of enterprise integration products will enable these "islands" to share data in real time, whether to improve homeland security, better serve taxpayers or streamline administration.
To help agencies find appropriate information sharing and data integration solutions, Ascential Software is co-sponsoring an event with the Brookings Institution titled, "The Challenges of Information Sharing: Balancing Civil Liberties and National Security in the Post 9/11 Era" on June 5, 2003.
"Our core technology platform, the Ascential Enterprise Integration Suite, was designed to integrate massive volumes of complex, multiple data types and sources, on demand. This is exactly the solution inter- and intra-agency information sharing initiatives require to succeed," said Pete Fiore, president of Ascential Software. "Real-time, accurate information sharing among government agencies at the federal, state and local levels has never been more crucial. Ascential brings an unprecedented level of total enterprise integration experience to help meet these challenges."
Ascential enterprise integration solutions are deployed at these and other federal entities: U.S. Census Bureau, Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, The U.S. Army, The U.S. Navy, Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Justice, Veterans Benefits Administration, and several intelligence agencies. In addition to EDS, Ascential has reseller or partnership agreements with Booz Allen Hamilton and Northrop Grumman, as well as relationships with Lockheed Martin, SAIC and SRA International.
