j,
I had same thoughts a year ago. 'Buy good undervalued companies showing consistent growth and you can't miss.' It's true for long term investing and I have recommended Elamex to friends that want safe solid growth companies and aren't daily involved in the market.
It took me a while to realize the market makers aren't looking for consistent growth, they want explosive growth even if it's high risk. I bought a lot of companies that had all of the right statistics and did the right things, but only showed small price appreciation. I've found there's hundreds of companies just like Elamex, strong financially, showing consistent growth, but their next Q earnings are predictable and so is their price. The market would rather speculate on an unknown than the predictable.
Doesn't make sense to me, but I decided to play the game. THE GAME. That's all it is. It's no longer money, just numbers. Once you start making the numbers grow, it can't grow fast enough. It's addictive. ME against the rest, me against myself.
Of course, everytime I think I have the market figured out, it does something even crazier than I thought possible.
Ron PS - I bought AMTD this morning @ 15.625 Worth a look if price hasn't run up. |
