Discussing stocks on bulletin boards is one thing, however their have been successful law suits having to do with posting about stocks.

Maliciously attacking an alias in one thing too, and would be very difficult to prosecute, unless it is obvious to the public who the real person is behind the alias.

But maliciously trying to harm the reputation of a real person is entirely another thing. It doesn't matter if it is on an Internet bulletin board or in the newspaper. If it is writing, it can be considered libel.

My opinion.
