<Are you seriously comparing....>

Once upon a time, the alpha male of a Neanderthal tribe led the beta males of his band, into the caves of another tribe. They smashed their crudely chipped stone hand-axes into the brains of the Others. Then they took over those nice dry caves.

A little while later, a Seneca Chief led the males of his tribe, into the white settlements in the Hudson Valley, who were encroaching on his tribe's land. The Others, the Enlightenment Tribe on the verge of the Industrial Revolution, led by their Commander in Chief, Destroyer of Villages, with their cannons and muskets, then planned a Final Solution.

A little while later, an Israeli soldier in an F-16 sends a laser-guided smart bomb into a crowded Gaza street, in a targetted assassination, to show the Others they can't stop the Jewish Orthodox colonists from seizing yet another hilltop in Samaria.

Tribalism (the modern term is nationalism) is as powerful today, as it was 200, 2000, or 200,000 years ago. The tools have changed, the Ways And Means of death, but not our Hearts and Minds. No change there, not in the slightest. The Law of Tooth And Fang still rules most tribal conflict, as always. Makes no difference whether the size of their typical tribal group is a hunter-gatherer band of 15, or a city of 1.5 million like Tel Aviv.
