Correct. But...

In the various guerrilla conflicts you cite, what is the proportion of total killed, by the government, compared to the guerrillas? I think you'll find that the governments ended up killing a lot more (mostly because they had more means). And that the government killing was just as random, just as "uncivilized", as the guerrilla's.

Again: I am not defending the methods of Al Queda (or the Vietcong, or Shining Path). I am pointing out that their government opponents, (who the U.S. armed, funded, supported), used violence just as indiscriminately, and on a larger scale, and consistently killed more civilians.
