Value isn't always determined by a theoretical formula since value is often in the eyes of the beholders. A handful of colored glass beads and other trinkets worth some $24 was enough to satisfy the native Americans who sold Manhattan to European traders. Obviously the sellers of Manhattan thought the glass beads were as valuable as that entire piece of real estate. How does that fit into your theory?
