I did a little math here; after I sold my shares at 37 3/8 (from 22 or so), I bought back in at 34. Mainly, I think the valuation is justified given the improving fundamentals for digital video, and the better top and bottom lines.

Moreover, PCs which can handle advanced graphics/video have just become dramatically more affordable -- this should provide expanding demand for AVID products, as well as a number of other niche software/hardware products.

From an earlier post:
Robertson Stephens is also raising estimates.
The firm increased its FY97 view to $0.95 from $0.72 and
its FY98 estimate to $1.30 from $1.25 a share. Based on
the revised Prudential fiscal 1998 estimate and the new
Rob. Stephens view, the stock carries multiples of 21
and 23, while near-term annual earnings growth is
indicated in the 37%-45% range.
