The anti-aliased logo is sent. Here's a suggestion:

The grey strap is less jarring than the butterscotch simply as grey has a neutralizing effect. The trade-off, however, is the lack of contrast against everything on top of it, hence the link readability complaints. And the grey's a bit "industrial stuffy" anyway.

A khaki has the same neutralizing effect without the boredom. Less jarring than the butterscotch, still conservative, kinda like Casual Friday at the office <gg>. The contrast for link readability works better here, too. Easy to implement as it's mostly RGB call-outs, adheres to the skeletal structure already in place, and any other remaining work is already done. It can just be "popped in". Or not. <g>

khaki: users.rcn.com
grey: si1.siliconinvestor.com
butterscotch: Message 18998821

Grey version: If you still stick with it, the grey should not have extended into the blue on the top strap, and the menu bar extensions should have been left alone, too.
