Bad news coming for us surfers. I noticed that all stories back one day or more in the LA Times now are on a pay basis. From "Romesko" poynter.org LA Times, Tribune headed toward web subscription model American Journalism Review Tribune Interactive president David Hiller tells Doug Brown : "I think that the totally free, complete open-access Web site model is pretty flawed, and we're going to be working on a better mousetrap. Elements of subscription will definitely be a part of it." PLUS: Bob Benz, general manager of interactive media for E.W. Scripps Co. , says: "Online should not be free.
