Well, personally, I agree with Derek. I think the poster who called it the "dying cockroach routine" eventually moved on because he couldn't remain civil, but he was wicked funny.

When it's all too predictable that a poster 1) won't actually read what you posted but will complain about it anyway because 2) it refutes what he says and he can't deal with that without 3) screaming that you are rude at the same time that he 4) insults you and 5) complains that the thread is going to the dogs while 6) asking for the moderator to rescue him so that 7) he doesn't have to deal with the fact that he made a mistake EVER - it's a routine.

Flipping over on one's back and wiggling one's legs in the air screaming as a visual image works for me.

He's not really all that sensitive, it's just a way to avoid dealing with the fact that sometimes he makes mistakes, as we all do. As a lawyer I find it particularly offensive because I can't pretend I didn't make a mistake, I have to own up to it. Not that I don't have clever ways to deflect criticism, but pissing and moaning that my opponent is rude isn't one of them.

It's a tremendous time-waster, too. Enormous wads of thread time are wasted on JohnM's ego feeling bruised while he engages in bellicosity and thrashes about, bellowing.
