If the T. has no followup, what would you conclude?
I will conclude, as I started out believing, that the BBC Governors ordered this report to CYA. They will keep it confidential, and, if questioned, deny that any bias was reported to them. But it was significant to me that the bias was so obvious to the Governors that they were forced to go through this "window dressing" of a report because of pressure.
The problem with the BBC, as with all Government run Businesses, is no real "Checks and Balances." The managers can really run it as they please. Like the "New York Times," they play to their internal culture. In their case it is that of well educated left wing Brits. They are not reliable anymore, IMO, on the ME, not when it concerns the Israelis and the US.
You have to figure the viewpoint of any source you read or listen to. Some are more objective than others, and it varies by the subject matter. I just take it into account when I evaluate it. |
