<were... simply wrong>

Well, in the words of those who are waiting patiently and trustingly for the WMD to be produced: let's wait a bit before final judgement.

Yes, I will be pleasantly surprised, if Sharon actually follows the road map. I didn't expect it, I don't expect it still.

First, words don't always match actions.

Second, Sharon promised to dismantle the "illegal" settlements, while the roadmap says "all" the new settlements of the last 2 years, which means more than 60 of them. If Sharon gets to define the word "illegal", it may be a much, much shorter list.

Third, the road map calls for ending all growth in the remaining settlements, and this is a provision of the first phase, so they should already be doing it. Sharon hasn't said anything about this, much less done anything.

But, I will grant, that saying he will dismantle settlements, and saying the Palestinian State will have "contiguous" borders, is a step in the right direction. Or, at least, the promise of a step toward peace. Which isn't much, but is more than I expected.
