Maybe, maybe... Perhaps, with the new Palestinian leadership, as well as with the new geopolitical reality of an impending new regime in Iraq - and the US presence there - Sharon feels more confident about the possibility of peace.

A cynic could say that perhaps what Sharon might be "confident" about is that extremists will soon blow any deal sky high. I am not a cynic. I think that he genuinely wants peace for his people.

Now what we need is a small stampede of Arab countries recognizing Israel's right to exist. Prince Abdullah had started something a year or two ago, but his initiative quickly got "intifadoed".
