Mr Robert McPherson reports

On the energy front, the company's oil and gas operations were expanded to include entry into the US market through participation in two successful wells on the Cleveland property. With the added value of US gas prices, and the exchange on the dollar, the properties are projected to add significant cash flow to the company when they are placed onstream in 1997.
One of management's top objectives in 1996 was to focus on oil and gas prospects with the potential for developing large reserves. That aim was achieved when the company secured the right to participate in a large scale natural gas joint venture in the Arkoma basin of Arkansas and Oklahoma. Land acquisition for the project has been continuing since third quarter 1996 to accumulate a strong position on over 20 prospects.
Hampton took its first step into the mining sector in 1996. After reviewing the potential of numerous properties management concentrated on several concessions in South America. An expedition was dispatched to Ecuador in November and the data obtained encouraged management to proceed with incorporation of an Ecuadorian subsidiary and to apply to the government for the right to explore three mineral concessions in southern Ecuador. Upon receipt of title, management plans to conduct a full scale independent economic evaluation of the properties.
