Cash is King only as long as the gov't can convince people that it is king...if you want to see what is going to happen to the US$, look no farther than Mexico for your example. In 1980-1984 Mexico was head deep in debt...then they had no way out so they devalued the peso from (5 to the $1) to (2850 to the $1) in less than 6 months...I saw it happen, I was there before and after...and it all had to do with debt and the loss of confidence that that debt could not be maintained...Our turn is coming next...5 Trillion in debt now (on the books) (16 trillion Off the books) and one hint of recession and this dollar is toast...Also, remember that a lot of foreigners own US Stocks which they had to pay for in US$. When they sell those stocks,(ie. on a stock market decline) they will repaitriate those $'s into local currency forcing the US$ to fall. Granted, no one knows when this will happen, but everyone knows it will.

"Cash is King" only for a short time. Count the days when Gold will be King.

Best of Luck

Phil
