Roger:

A strike will provide opportunites for some companies but it will hurt other companies like Dell, Gateway and Micron. The severity of the damage to the companies stocks will depend on the length of the strike and how well other shipping companies are able to pick up UPS's business.

One area where Dell and the other mailorder firms will have an issue replacing UPS is in the coordination of components. As an example when I recieved my Gateway 2000 last December the PC (cpu) box & keyboard were from South Dakota, the Monitor was from North Carolina and the speakers were from another location (I can't remember). I've read that Dell uses the same just in time inventory techniques as Gateway (I heard Gateway copied Dell?).

This is one of the areas CPQ is also trying to copy Dell to the extent it can.

Hope this helps in your short decision.

On a short topic. Roger are you or others short APM at this time? If so can you provide a few good reasons so I don't go long.

Thanks.

Tim
