Ray,

Yep, it's pretty scary. 200 years ago the "media" consisted of a few cheap printing presses and anyone with a message was free to spread their views to a fairly small population. There isn't a chance in the world our country's forefathers could have envisioned a mass corporate electronic media directed at a country of over 200 million people, and with the bulk of that media concentrated into the hands of a few power groups with their own agenda.

If it wasn't for the Internet, I suspect the number of Americans who think Saddam Hussein bombed the WTC would be in the high 90% range rather than the current, and still ridiculous, 60%. The intensity of the propaganda and lies targeted at Americans by the Bush administration dwarfs anything I've ever seen. For all practical purposes, the checks and balances built into the Constitution of the United States to protect the rights and freedom of Americans no longer exist.
