I would probably buy oracle but mostly because they are a player in middleware with their 9AS product, that is where the growth is, it competes with Websphere from IBM, and Oracle has something of an edge because they own the engine already. If I were going to buy an apps player I am sticking with small companies like bvsn.

Large application software projects aren't really being funded yet, the other tech areas seem like they are going to recover before software.
