A Shiite uprising crushed by Saddam? I hope you're joking by including this one. The U.S. authorized Saddam to crush the Shiites, clearing the airspace for him and blocking the Shiites from accessing Iraq weapons.
1.) What did they use to "crush" this rebellion, day old spaghetti?
2.) What did the UN do about it? Nothing. At least the US put up a no-fly zone to prevent the use of Iraqi aircraft for such an endeavor (but as Schwartzkopf later admitted, he was misled into giving permission for helicopters to fly there and the Iraqis used that loop-hole to use gunships).
3.) Where would US troops have staged from? Kuwait? Saudi Arabia? None of these states were prepared to defend the Shiites via use of force. We barely convinced them to permit us to use their countries for the most recent attack.
4.) It's obviously shameful that the US permitted this occur, but using your dysfunctional logic, you wouldn't have even permitted use of a no-fly zone or any US forces to intervene.. So WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM??

BULLSH*T!!! There are 12 years of documented reports by Shiites who have fled Iraq as to the nature of the Saddam's brutality against the Shiites.. People who have attested to having family members taken and never seen again..
There is certainly more evidence for Saddam having massacred 100-200,000 Iraqis "crushing" that rebellion, than there were for 1/2 million Iraqi kids dying as a result of economic sanctions against Iraq.
