No that is not true. They can halt at opening bell, and release new via the loop and have the show at that time too. It would work. They can hand out releases at the booth and from the street too at the same time. No law against it.

The purpose of the weekend release is to get interest and talk going. That is the promotional technique. I must say it has worked pretty well for them so far.
