Welcome to the beginning of the End for the Bush regime. They have told us so many gross lies on big-big issues, fudged the truth, exaggerated, used Enron accounting, covered-up corruption and more lies, spun and attacked their way out of corners, cheated to win two elections, promoted Bush as a former fighter pilot (after he went AWOl and deserted) and gotten a tremendously long free ride from the US media. But now all that is about to change.
This WMD's deception story is the tip of of a huge iceberg. It proves a callous disregard for telling the US public (and world) the truth. It shows deliberate deception to serve secret special personal interests. It shows willingness to use and abuse the US military for selfish purposes and campaign promotions. It shows disregard for the congress. And it hits Bush right between the eyes, right between his two strongest issues, trust and military victory.
So who is stronger on honesty and military issues than Bushe ever was or will be? One man, John Kerry. But that's another discussion.
Once most swing-voters realise Bush may or may not be able to ever be trusted again, then they will open their minds. Bush will follow his father into the coming election with a tremendous drop in approval ratings. A true crisis on confidence. And Bushies will be unable to lie and spin their way out of it. They will be in quicksand.
And no, the economy won't be any better by then either to save Bush. In fact, count on almost everything Bush has toyed with and changed to be in disarray and worse off than he found it. Yes, military budget will be higher, but again it's how you use it, now what you spend.
Johnson resigned after the lies he told us about Vietnam were exposed. Bush would too if he were an honorable man. But my guess is he and his disinformation specialists will try to desperately spend and spin their way out of this, cover-up and try desperately to find some scapegoat to take the fall.
Problem is, the guilty parties are Bush, Cheney, Rumsfield, Rice, Powell (though I hear he called Cheney on his dishonesty), Wolfowitz, Delay, and all their top leaders. So who's going to take the fall? Tenet? If they want to pick a fight with the CIA then watch out for fireworks. The CIA knows enough about Bush to bury him.
All in all, Bush has gone from hero to zero since I last posted. I gladly took that vacation while Bush basked in his phony post-war photo op vanity and the suckers and dimwits were fooled into thinking he was an honest and courageous man. He's not. He's neither. He's just a very slick unscrupulous politician backed by rich and ruthless special interests. |
