Just PM'd ork with a response that I expect RE to lag inflation in the coming years. It leads the inflation cycle, due to its heavy dependence on the direction of interest rates. If rates start to rise, it will cause affordability to drop quickly, and the pricing should lag the pricing of other necessities.

Interesting - RE isn't so much a necessity these days as more of a luxury, what with ever larger houses and garages. Wonder if that means pricing is more elastic?
