We'll see. Conversations, like stocks, have a momentum of their own. Unfortunately, once a lack of civility sets in, the downward cycle continues until people realize how pointless and counter-productive bad behavior really is. I'm as guilty of that as anyone.

The Polish approval is probably a feather in the US's hat since Poland seems in general to be supportive of American foreign policy. I can't imagine that the French or the Germans are jumping with joy, particularly as Poland's EU voting rights will be significant. On the other hand, better to have the Poles inside the tent pissing out than outside pissing in, as I think LBJ used to say.
