i started reading zen and the art of motorcycle
maintenance during downtime on the boat this
weekend - it made me stop and think. even when
shit happens, its good.

I've heard of that title before.
I wonder if someone here had mentioned it before.
Perhaps it was Scoot or Polvo. I suppose it has a title
that makes it difficult to forget.

I'll have to put it on my list. It sounds like an
interesting book.

... maybe kayaking is the route to go.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the large tear in
the plastic window of my jib this weekend. Then I noticed
the mainsail's window was cracked as well. The thin
plastic is old and brittle (along with much of the
hardware).

I'm also beginning to see the logic in the advice that
Polvo was trying to give me when he suggested I get a
Sunfish instead of the boat I got. It sure takes a heck of
a lot of work for one guy to get that boat in the water...

...let alone sail it.

That's the thing with Polvo-advice. It comes across as the
slightest of suggestions.

I learned that lesson when he first suggested that Beagles
might be slightly difficult to train. I don't think the
phuckinguy used enough exclamation points. <g>

It's like telling someone who never saw explosives,
"Firecrackers might hurt a little bit if you light them and
leave them in the palm of your hand. However I've heard
of people who really enjoy doing stuff like that so don't
go by anything I say. It can be a lot of fun and provide
years of entertainment." <g>

Advice like that sort of creeps up on you later on and you
realize how right he was...

Anyhow, thanks for the book title. I see Amazon has it in
the used book section for about two bucks.
