Hey, I don't have time to do a half hour's research for you... just because you're too lazy to do it yourself.
Go to the 'usual sources' and educate yourself, if you're truly interested in the Afghan situation. You'll find it all there. In fact, start with some of the ones I indicated to you:
Try the UN Commission on Drugs - they recently issued a report on Afghan opium production - so did the EU. So did the US State department in their (required) annual report on world drug production.
Check FEER.com (far eastern WSJ) or the BBC reports for info on the warlord situation - they have provide some of the most comprehensive coverage, IMO, and the articles quote directly from US State and military sources. Just go to the home pages and use the search field - you'll have a ton of good stuff to read.
As far as the facts about the number of men under arms pledged to the 'national' (Kabul-only) government, vs. the number the warlords field... why, EVERYONE has written about THAT situation: the WSJ, Wash Post, most any big news outlet.
The fact that hired 'mercs' (a private firm has the security contract) now guard Karzai, is a matter of public record, pentagon announcements, state department briefings, etc.
It's no secret. |
