I think the NS sands are in a pilot plant and the reserves stand at some 300MM + tonnes and growing. I don't think a deal with Syncrude and a titanium producer leaves the widows out in the field at all. I'm guessing that all parties have done a fair amt of DD to get to the pt where they make this deal. Syncrude ain't some small cap junior looking for a bump up in the world. They likely went thru this deal with a fine tooh comb and it says in the NR that the data ain't new. Syncrude never spent the time or $$ to figger out how to get the sands out I suspect. I'm guessing that having stratford and a couple of the other newbies on the bd allowed them to solve the extraction process to the pt that they were able to get a deal for all 3.
