I wouldn't do that for security reasons. If anyone got ahold of that debit card, they could empty your account in minutes. Unlike a credit card, a debit card carries no protection against misuse. Also, you don't necessarily want to let everyone know that you have an investment account. And you need a local bank to deposit checks because the brokerage accounts accept only checks made out to them, not you.
