Fed has thrown 16.5b into the Repo pool over the last three days, obviously as a counter to the destabilizing effects of the Freddie Mac mess. IMO: scrapping the bottom of the barrel, kind of like the Germans in their last offensive (Battle of the Bulge): Dec 1944. Add the rapidly emerging energy crisis, and we have serious problems the stock market is sleeping through. news.ft.com
