Saddam read the above history, noticed that Iraq's chemical weapons kept getting found, and decided to finally give up on hiding them.

My, my... what a wonderful intelligence network you must have... Is there a reason you haven't shared your confirmable intelligence with the rest of the world?

Btw, what IS you confirmable evidence of this "fact" you claim, that Saddam decided to finally give up on hiding them??

And why did the world's various intelligence agency fail to pick up the full scale incineration of over 1,000 tonnes of WMDs (estimated amount contained in those 6,000 warheads)??

And when did Saddam suddenly have this revelation? Before he announced he would stop cooperating with the UNSCOM inspectors (right after that document on unaccounted for warheads was found) in 1998? Or in 2002 when NO inspectors were present?

I've never claimed to be an intelligence professional. But what you're claiming is to be able to sit there and tell us that you know how a totalitarian thinks.

Yeah... it's called profiling. Totalitarian rulers such as Saddam and Kim Jong Il follow the same pattern of behavior as countless despots before them.. Whether it be Stalin, Hitler, or Pol Pot, they all operate on terror, paranoia, and, when organized genocide is involved, record keeping.

They certainly keep their underlings under absolute scrutiny, using spies and informers to ensure that no one knows who can be trusted and who might be an informer.

That fact alone, ensures that those in control of the regimes important assets, are going to make absolutely positive that they can account for anything..

They have to.. lest they be informed upon by someone else. Document everything so you can have SOMETHING to rely upon to cover your @ss when accused..

And common sense dictates that this would apply to chemical weapons, given their sensitivity and lethality.

Anyone else here care to offer their own opinion on whether Saddam would consider WMDs to be worthy of absolute accountability??

I mean, my god, Bilow... Look at how we safeguard our chemical and nuclear stockpiles here in the US!! We don't let them go unaccounted for, EVER!!...

It defies incredulity to believe a totalitarian ruler, with his established cult of personality, Praetorian Guard, and repressive internal security service wouldn't give a sh*t about what weapons he possessed and where they were located..

That's why I believe he cut a deal with the Syrians for them to house them in exchange for $1 billion in oil every year. Syria lacks oil, and lacks foreign reserves and exports. And I'm sure Bashir Assad saw the opportunity to make a few bucks and not put anything at risk (since he has no reason to believe the US would invade him).

Your problem is that you came up with a thesis back in 2002, and you haven't altered it in response to new information.

No Bilow.. The ENTIRE problem is that since 1998 there have been NO information with which to generate a new thesis. No new information from Iraq, no new evidence of destroying or even possessing, those WMDs that were found missing in 1998..

So what the hell you're basing your belief, that Saddam destroyed his remaining chemical weapons after 1998, defies all logic and information that I know of.
