We attribute yesterday’s solid move in the group to bullish API inventory data, comments from Greenspan about tight
natural gas supplies, and OPEC’s decision to maintain current quotas. Greenspan’s testimony to the U.S. House Energy
and Commerce Committee on Tuesday highlighted our belief that we are in the midst of an energy crisis, and alleviating
that problem is a critical goal of the government. Possible steps the government could take include financial incentives
to oil companies (i.e., more royalty relief) and opening select area for exploration.
