The market in general appears to be treading water. Could this be happening in advance of a potentially serious decline Don?

Now all of this is of course supposition on my part but it appears that the buy the dip mentality while still somewhat in force is losing the previous high volume we were seeing.

Sooner or later I believe we will wake up to find some shocking circumstance has been blamed for a huge decrease in the market.

Market sentiment indicators of all kinds are at or near all time highs where it concerns measuring levels of bullishness. In my humble opinion there simply is not enough evidence of a business led economic recovery taking place to justify the valuation levels in this market.

This is especially true of technology stocks like those associated with the semiconductor capital equipment industry. Now before anyone completely blows off what I am saying you must realize that I am not even short one single share of anything at this moment.

So I hope that everyone reading this will set aside your emotional bias for just a minute.

Are you completely certain that your stocks are not being propped up so far this summer? Despite all the technical improvements that have taken place in the various indices these last three months how much real fundamental improvement has taken place?

How much fundamental improvement has been forecasted? Will it actually take place?

In my opinion a very real substantial decline is not out of the question for the market in general.

The dollar is very weak. The market has been propped up by low interest rates and high liquidity. Even so there is not much evidence of a business led recovery.

Oh sure its quite likely that ORCL will actually have good things to say tonight. Companies do not usually move reports up to say something bad but this might just possibly be the last hurrah for a while for the market before a very steep decline.
