What do you think of this article? I believe the USAF is set on a course to destroy the enemy.

You might be surprised, but I actually LOVE the A-10. Nothing quite hearing it's cannon with its flatulant roar.. (yes, it sounds like a very loud "ripper" any red-blooded male would be proud of).. And considering that it fires 3,500 quart size cannon shells every minute (50 per second), it can really put the hurt on the bad guys.

And until you've seen an A-10 perform a "Cuban 8" and engaging the same target in the space space of a football field, you haven't quite lived.

But the Air Farce is ruled by fighter jocks (and strategic bomber boys).. Thus, alas, there is little glamour, or promotability, for your average A-10 pilot unless they requalify in a fighter.

But the A-10 is a great airframe.. And they will find themselves mothballed out at Davis-Monthan Airbase when they should all be transferred to active Air Guard units.

But don't be overly fooled by the belief that the A-10 is invulnerable to the kind of AAA fire those Apache's took near Karbala. Any aircraft, deployed incorrectly, is vulnerable and I believe quite a few A-10s were scrapped after sustaining major hits (but still managing to come home).
