Ok Joe,
Here goes my attempt to respond to your post. As I stated before you might consider it lame, but flame away ...
> Eddie. PPS: to my last. In other words, when I see the shift or ANY > indication in the industry that Novell product will be sold to > OTHER THAN EXISTING NETWARE SHOPS (and that is not just limited to > SOHO), I mean ENTERPRISE shops ("NEW" enterprise shops), as was > done in Novell's "heyday", I'll believe it.
Well, I know that GroupWise (which has a high amount of praise) is sold into many non-NetWare shops. New sales. I know of ISPs who are experimenting with the Web Access functionality for their customers. It's cool stuff.
NDS is being ported to many different platforms and is now being shipped by SCO. Numerous other vendors you are aware of will start to ship NDS on their platforms. These are new sales, new shops, new applications.
BorderManager is a completely platform nuetral product that offers a lot of functionality in non-NetWare shops. I have several potential customers that are not currently NetWare shops. Hierarchical caching is the future!
I know that you might now want to independently bash the products, but the question was where is Novell product sold into other than existing shops.
> To-date, and I see nothing in the crystal ball that says this is > happening (because if it was, then you would/will see the price > run-up for REAL reasons).
You say that you "would/will" see the price run-up. Will indicates future tense. Maybe you really feel that there is a chance? ;-)
> I challenge any one here, INCLUDING the Novell folk. Scott Lemon, > Adrian Slade, Peter Connolly, et al, to rebutt that statement.
I won't rebutt ... I agree with the "would/will" ... ;-)
> Tell us how you are winning business in OTHER THAN NETWARE SHOPS.
I am actually trying to focus on this area. I'm seeing interest and results.
> Or give us the PLAN on how you intend to do that.
I know that you do not expect *me* to answer that one. Ain't my place to disclose official plans ...
> NOT insinuated, but SHOW US, annd the PRESS.
Ok. I'll take that as a challenge. I love a good challenge. I can't make guarantees, but I will try.
> Will your NEW Marketing Exec do that? When?, How?
Good question. Again, I'm not sure that I am the official spokesperson.
> Regards, ...Joe
I guess one reason that i didn't answer originally is because your questions are posed in a way that it is difficult to answer. I can't provide you official information, and I hope that as a shareholder you respect that. But I can keep working ... and I am!
