U.S. deploying troops overseas to protect her worldwide interests is understandable to me. But using them to invade and take over weak nations is not. Using U.S. troops to fight proxy war for a third nation and for the special interest group is even more miserable for America and bad for the world. The Europeans have seen that the US government’s interests are not their interests and the basic interests for the two sides can be in serious conflicts from time to time (the latest Iraq war is a great example). The Soviet Union and the communist block have collapsed. NATO therefore has done its main historical mission, as I can see. NATO will gradually disbanded, whether the US powerhouse like it or not. New allies and organizations will be formed in the coming years under the new world situation, IMO.
