OT Located not far from Evergreen up the "hill" from a little town called Conifer. It can get a little 'warm' but I was born, raised, and lived in south Florida (Palm Bch county) for 55 yrs...now that gets HOT & HUMID! <<I'd never seen a marmot up close before.>> Me neither until last summer up in Stewart,BC/Hyder,AK on 37A off the Cassiar Hwy. Was trying to get up to an old abandoned mine above the Salmon Glaciar and all of a sudden heard this loud screeching noise, like a siren. I thought they were going to set off a charge in a mine reclamation project 500' below me...shut off the ATV and saw a marmot...yelling at me. BTW, they are a favorite meal of the grizzly bear...of which there are plenty in that area. That's also where they filmed part of the movie with Al Pacino & Robin Williams (can't remember the name).
