Derek,
Already there is talk this morning of cease fire again. I suspect Hamas is not suicidal(choice of words) and realizes that your scenario is what would play out. Is there a real political wing? Is there even a remote possibility that they can reluctantly recognize the existance of Israel as permanent? Certainly doesnt seem like it but stranger things have happened. Another hope of mine is that the use of suicide bombers is sickening to those who send their kids out to blow themselves up. Abbas spoke to this point at Aquaba. Suicides do as much psychic damage to Pals as it does physical damage to jews and it wins them nothing except pain and suffering. Time to give it up once and for all and trust the US to give them a fair shake in negotiations with israel. My problem is that I cant see a future for west bank pal state. In the end Jordan is palestine and the West Bank and Gaza need to be reintergrated. Jordanian police need to take over security. Wont happen either or at least not soon. mike
