<<We have raised two ducks and a goose since about four days old this spring.>>

I knew a guy who raised ducks and at time a wild mallard would mate one of his hens. I'd bring the crosses home, let them play in the creek all day and pen them at night. I covered the pen after a Great Horned Owl wanted to fight me for the ducklings one morning.

They'd fly a little every day and come October off they'd fly. Except Pickles and Pansy, they turned out to be two tame ducks. I'd collect the eggs and they made good sandwiches. I couldn't leave water out for them in the winter as Pickles would sleep in the water dish and freeze into it. I'd bring her into the house and thaw the ice the 3 times it happened.

Those ducks would peck on the windows wanting us to come out. Sit on our feet when we were walking.
