The rest of you may be moving on to a point where you are told that if we don't immediately invade Syria, Iran, or North Korea, the world as we know it will come to an end.

Don't you think that's a bit extreme Steven? I have respect for your experiences around the world and surely you understand that we don't always have to use a sledgehammer to pound in a nail..

Iraq was different.. We could make a decisive change in the strategic balance of power in that region with relatively little risk and potentially significant gain. And there is no doubt the middle east is the region most important to the interests of Western economies.

We certainly wouldn't be involved to this extent were it not for the oil in the region that fuels our economies.

And that's why we're not opting for the military solution on the Korean peninsula (yet). Because China has no interest in another Korean war, or a nuclear armed government in Pyongyang. And S. Korea can successfully defend itself from any invasion from the North (although it would be a bloody victory).

Syria could be a different issue though. I'm hoping there's sufficient "influence" that can be applied to make some difference there. It's really use to Bashir Assad.. But that's a battle for later on... Hopefully one we don't have to fight.
