Semicon, you are sounding more optimistic than I am in your note.....

Not sure what you mean by "not very low k" ....If I'm not mistaken the dielectric's used today are around 3.2, TRKN says they can get it down to 2.1 k that's a huge jump from 3.2. If it is proven to be stable, I suspect that chip speeds can easily be increased by 50% if not more.

If they can make chips even 30% faster by using this technology....all their competitors may be forced to adopt the technology or be left behind in the chip performance race. I'm sure the likes of INTC, AMD, TI, MOT, IBM, SUN, etc are all very interested at this point. According to TRKN every major fab is in que to run wafers for test purposes, and so far 3 have bought the systems after the tests.

All we need is one major logic chip maker to test and certify the technology and put it into production. So far, from what I have heard....at least 3 chip makers have independantly tested and certified the low k results announced by TRKN in Feb.

Now we have to wait for the chip makers to develop the design and the process for using low k dielectric. My guess is that we will see 3-4 systems shipped a quarter for the next couple of quarters. Then in Q1 or Q2 1998 we may see production orders. (IF flowfill low k is stable for production).
