NeoMagic's MiMagic 3 Applications Processor Powers Deja View's Model 100 Hands-Free Wearable Video Camera
Monday June 16, 7:32 am ET
Camera is Less Than One Inch Long and Records Up to Four Hours of Video

SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NeoMagic Corporation (Nasdaq: NMGC - News), a pioneer in Applications Processors for multimedia-rich mobile phones, wireless PDAs and mobile handheld systems, today announced that Deja View, Inc. a New Jersey-based supplier of wearable video cameras, is using the MiMagic 3 Applications Processor to enable rich video in its new line of video cameras with "after-the-fact" technology.

Deja View's "camwear" products are small enough to hook onto a shirt collar or a pair of glasses and record up to four hours of video that can be downloaded to a PC or MAC. The files can then be used to create CDs, VCDs and DVDs. Additionally, Deja View provides software that allows for direct connection to a TV or VCR for full screen viewing. Using patent-pending technology, the cameras can also capture a 30-second video clip, with audio, of what happened before the record button was hit, allowing the user to tape unplanned events without missing a beat. The first in the line, the Model 100, will begin shipping in the fall of 2003.

"The Model 100 is a great product that is well-timed for the holiday season," said Mark Singer, NeoMagic's vice president of marketing. "Its form factor and ability to capture film after the fact is unique. We are excited to see it come to market," concluded Singer.

"The MiMagic 3 helps to enable the Model 100's rich video and small form factor," said Sid Reich, president and founder of Deja View. "NeoMagic's focus on high-performance multimedia was key in our decision to use the MiMagic 3. The MiMagic 3 has delivered on this promise."

The Model 100 has a remote hip pack unit that will write 30 seconds of audio and video to a removable media (64mb compact flash card -- upgradeable to 1 gigabyte) located within the remote unit. It features CIF (320X240) quality video at 30 frames per second. The camera will record a minimum of 48 clips with a standard 64 megabytes of flash memory. The videos can be viewed on television or recorded on a VCR via RCA jacks. It also has a USB slave connection available on the hip pack that allows users to download movie clips to a PC or MAC, where they can be viewed using supplied software or Windows Media Player(TM), RealPlayer(TM) and other industry standard players.

The MiMagic 3 is an ARM-based Applications Processor purpose-built to provide a cost-effective solution for consumer applications that require advanced multimedia capabilities. The MiMagic 3 achieves high performance and low power through architectural innovations including two independent memory buses which provide separate interfaces for simultaneous access to program and data storage; dynamic CPU and peripheral clock switching; an internal frame-buffer for display refresh without external memory access and multiple power down modes. All of these features combine to provide higher performance with longer battery life at a lower cost.
