Can someone (anyone) explain to me how the Fed could buy bonds in the open market...wouldn't this, essentially, create artificial demand, which would lead to the detrement of the currency (accerlerate weakness)? What would be other potential negative (or positive) side effects? How long can gambit go on? tia Somewhere, I got the crazy notion that there are no free lunches...I think some guy named Greenspan used to write about it...
