A very disturbing incident happened while coming back from the airport on a shuttle recently, two of us the last ones left talking about 911. I can't help talking to this good-looking washington lawyer with a well-known GOP law firm, who gives an incredibly well-prepared rationale for Iraq war and general Bush b.s., kind of like Clear Channel's talking points, all off the cuff. So I itemize a few pertinent unanswered questions etc., thinking she's stuck here on the shuttle she'll have to stop talking or tell me to shut up etc., I can't wait to see what she says.
She then says, "well, yes, maybe the Bush people had something to do with 9/11, but it's much more important to consolidate Republican power for the good of the world, blah blah blah..." I just about fell off the chair.
I thought audacity and lack of morality had its limits, but it doesn't. If this woman is any indication, I believe "Plan B" is that we're about to be given various renditions of "we didn't want to, we had to" in 4-part harmony on all channels. Those that aren't true believers are already running for their lives, the rest are going for maximum extortion.
The next 18 months will be a sick display of the fall of a modern Rome. |
